Common use
The medicine Xalatan (0.005% (5 ml 0.01%) eye drop) is used to treat eye problems such as ocular hypertension, chronic closed-angle glaucoma, and open-angle glaucoma. The medication works by helping to lower the pressure in your eye. Xalatan should be used once every night. Xalatan may be used in combination with other eye drops such as Latanoprost or Betagan. It's important to use Xalatan correctly in order to get the most benefit out of the medication. When you first start using Xalatan, you may feel some discomfort in your eyes. Dosage and directions
For glaucoma and ocular hypertension. 1 drop in each eye, every morning. Duration of treatment: Up to one year. Dosage range: 0.005% (1 drop = 0.05 mg). Total volume per dose: 0.05 mL (10 drops). Use one vial of Xalatan (0.005% w/v) to deliver the prescribed dose of 0.05 mg. Xalatan (0.005%) is a corticosteroid used to lower eye pressure in patients with glaucoma and ocular hypertension. It is not an ophthalmic anesthetic and is not intended for ocular surface anesthesia. The recommended dosage is 1 drop in each eye, once a day, administered either in the morning or evening. Xalatan must be prescribed by a physician. Do not share a vial of Xalatan between two people, as doing so might introduce a transmission of infectious agents. If you miss a dose, apply Xalatan as soon as you remember.

Precautions
For more than 6 months, it is not recommended for the eyes of children younger than 3 months. It must not come into contact with the eye of an adult who is not wearing contact lenses. Do not stop or change your dosing regimen without first talking to your doctor. When using Xalatan eye drops, be sure to rinse the used applicator cup and discard it properly. Do not reuse the cup, as it may contaminate your other eye drops or spread infection. Do not wear contact lenses while you are wearing Xalatan eye drops, as they may be harder to remove and may damage your corneas. If you are using a patch to treat your glaucoma, be sure to remove the patch prior to instilling your eye drops. Do not apply another patch over your eye while the drops are still in your eye.
