Common use
The Zestril is a medication prescribed for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). Zestril tablets come in strengths of 2.5mg, 5mg and 20mg, and are used to treat mild, moderate, and severe forms of hypertension. Zestril tablets work by widening blood vessels to improve blood flow and reduce blood pressure. Zestril is a brand of the ACE inhibitor Lisinopril, which is also marketed under the name Prinivil and Zestril. Lisinopril is in the class of medications called angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. Dosage and direction

Serious side effects, such as kidney failure, should be reported to a healthcare provider immediately. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose at the regular time. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose. If you experience angioedema (facial swelling, tongue swelling, difficulty breathing), stop taking the medication and contact your healthcare provider immediately. If you are currently taking any other medications, including over-the-counter medications, herbal medications, or supplements, consult with your healthcare provider before taking Zestril to avoid any potential drug interactions. It is important to tell your healthcare provider about any other medications you are taking, including prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal medications, and supplements. You should avoid smoking and drinking alcohol while taking this medication. This medication should be stored at room temperature. Do not expose it to high temperatures, such as in a car, or freezing temperatures. Zestril should be disposed of properly. Do not flush it down the toilet or pour it down the drain.

Precautions
Zestril is contraindicated in patients with a history of angina, ischemic heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, or peripheral vascular disease, or in patients with a history of myocardial infarction or stroke. The medication may cause edema, and it should be used with caution in patients with a history of volume overload, renal dysfunction, or hepatic dysfunction, or in patients taking a diuretic or a non-steroidal anti-inflam matory drug (NSAID). Zestril should not be used in patients with a history of hepatitis or jaundice, and it should not be used in patients with a history of depression or suicidal ideation, or in patients with a history of Raynaud's syndrome. The medication may cause a rapid fall in blood pressure, and patients should be aware of the signs and symptoms of low blood pressure, including lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting. Patients should avoid engaging in any activity requiring mental alertness until they know how the medication affects them. Zestril should not be taken with a water pill (furosemide/hydrochlorothiazide), or with an NSAID or an anticoagulant, and it should be used with caution in combination with other blood pressure medications. Patients who develop angina or congestive heart failure while taking Zestril should stop taking the drug, and they should consult with their physician before starting again. Zestril can cause edema, and patients should tell their physicians about any edema they experience while taking the drug. Patients should not stop taking the drug without consulting with their physician. Zestril should not be used during pregnancy unless the expected benefits justify the risk, and the medication should not be used during the third trimester of pregnancy. The drug passes into breast milk, and it should not be used in women who are breastfeeding. Zestril should be stored in a cool, dry place, and it should be kept out of reach of children. The medication is not intended for use in children. 

Contraindications
Zestril is a medication that is not recommended for use by people who have been diagnosed with liver disease. It is also not recommended for use by people who have a history of kidney problems, or by people who are allergic to any of the ingredients in the drug. If either of these symptoms develops, they should contact their doctor as soon as possible. It is also recommended that they contact their doctor if they are experiencing any other symptoms that may be associated with a heart problem. If they experience a problem with their vision, or they experience a fainting spell, they should seek emergency medical attention. If they are experiencing a problem with their breathing, or if they are having a problem with their speech, they should also seek emergency medical attention. Zestril is a drug that is used to treat high blood pressure. It is also used to treat certain types of heart conditions. It is not a drug that is expected to cause side effects in most people. It is recommended that people take the drug exactly as directed by their doctor, and that they do not stop taking the drug without first consulting their doctor. 

Possible side effect

Some of the more serious side effects of this drug are hypersensitivity and anaphylactic shock. In rare cases, patients have experienced angioedema, a swelling of the lips, tongue, or throat, and/or a decrease in blood pressure. If these symptoms occur, you should seek immediate medical assistance. You should also contact your physician if you experience any of the more serious side effects of this medication, such as difficulty breathing, swelling in the extremities, pale or blue-colored skin, or sudden and unexplained shortness of breath. You may also want to discuss these side effects with your health care provider, so that you can determine if any adjustments need to be made to your dosage or if it is best for you to discontinue this medication. In rare cases, patients have experienced a loss of consciousness, unexplained wounds, bruises, and/or bleeding in the extremities. You should inform your health care provider if you experience any of these symptoms, so that appropriate action can be taken. Zestril is a medication that is taken once a day, although you may want to adjust your dosage to reflect your specific needs. You should not take this medication unless you have been instructed to do so by your health care provider. 

Drug interaction
