The vaginismus is a state at which there is an involuntary reduction of muscles of a vagina, the disease arises unexpectedly for the woman. This quite widespread phenomenon, can arise at any age and be shown in various degree.

The spasm can happen in different cases of penetration into a vagina:

1. During attempts of commission of sexual intercourse.
2. At introduction of a tampon.
3. On gynecologic inspection.

Approximately at 2-5% of women the vaginismus arises in time or before sexual intercourse.

Vaginismus reasons

Most often the vaginismus appears with the introduction in sex life. The fear of pain is the reason during a defloration, but sometimes it happens unexpectedly for the woman, at the time of painful occurrence.

Vaginismus symptoms

Reflex reduction of vulval muscles of a genital tract acts as the main symptom of a vaginismus. The vaginismus is shown by pain during the sexual act, at introduction of a tampon or other alien subject to a vagina. Pain can develop at visit of the gynecologist.
Pain can hesitate from slight discomfort before strong burning.
The disease does not interfere with the excitement process, but can cause disturbing thoughts of painful sexual intercourse.

Signs of a vaginismus disturb the woman only during penetration into a vagina. At the same time the disease does not affect health and does not bring discomfort in everyday life of the patient. Constant experiences and a stress against the background of painful feelings, can promote forming of complexes and a disturbing state.

Diagnostics and treatment are a package of measures, directed on:

1. Determination of the cause of a disease.
2. Diagnosing of a stage of development of a vaginismus.
3. Selection of an individual method of treatment.

Diagnose a disease on reception for the gynecologist.

The doctor is interested in such questions as:

1. As there passes the menstrual cycle: periods are how painful, plentiful and long.
2. When for the first time there were muscular spasms of a vagina and that promoted it.
3. Whether the woman had a treatment surgical methods.
4. Existence of gynecologic diseases with an itch, burning and unpleasant feelings during sexual intercourse.
5. Existence of sexual experience, ways of contraception.

If there is an opportunity, the doctor conducts gynecologic examination. For determination of the cause of a disease the gynecologist appoints a number of analyses:

2. Smear fence for microscopic and bacteriological examination.
